Welcome to our 2021 Shadow Brook Sharks cabana swim season!
Hello Sharks Families,
We are excited to welcome your swimmer(s) to our 2021 Shadow Brook Sharks cabana swim season! While this season will look very different from seasons past, we are elated to be able to offer your swimmer(s) the opportunity to swim as a Shadow Brook Shark this summer. We appreciate your continued patience as we are working tirelessly to ensure the State’s and Santa Clara County’s mandated and strongly encouraged safety protocols are being adhered to for your swimmers, your families and our coaching staff.
Due to these mandated and strongly encouraged recommendations, this year our Sharks’ cabana swim program will be run in partnership with Almaden Riptide’s swim club. As many of you know, we have been very fortunate to have Almaden Riptide’s swim program continue to run seamlessly throughout the pandemic. We are grateful for the infrastructure and safety precautions they have in place and look forward to working alongside their team to make our cabana swim season a success.
While some of you may be thinking, “my child does not want to swim for a competitive club team,” please know that this will be cabana swim, a fun environment where your child will have the opportunity to improve their swimming skills while having a good time. On this note and due to the restrictions of the current mandates, we are unable to accept any swimmers who are not currently water safe. Unlike in years past, we will not have a trial period. Thus, your swimmer needs to come to us ready to lap swim unassisted.
The complete registration instructions and registration link for our Sharks’ 2021 cabana swim season can be found below. For planning purposes, we are asking you to register your cabana swimmer(s) no later than Sunday, April 11 with the first practice beginning the week of April 19, 2021. Please note, if you are an Associate Member of Shadow Brook, you will be required to pay your 2021 Associate Membership dues which will be mailed this week. Should you choose not to renew your Associate Membership, you will be taken off Shadow Brook’s Associate Membership list and you will need to send in the appropriate paperwork to be added to their 2022 wait list. Your 2021 Associate Membership spot will not be held if your payment is not received.
Since we will be running under the Riptide flag, you will be registering through their Active.com portal (all transactions on Active.com are subject to a 4.95% processing fee) and new swimmers of Almaden Riptide will each be required to pay the USA Swimming Flex Membership $20 fee. The cost for this fun and exciting 13-week cabana swim program is $300 per swimmer plus the USA Swimming Flex Membership fee. Once your swimmer has attended five practices, there will be no refunds. Additionally, at this time, per California’s Department of Public Health guidelines, your athlete is strongly encouraged to limit participation during practice and competition to one team. So, for example, if your swimmer is currently playing baseball, they will be strongly encouraged to finish out their baseball season before they begin their cabana swim season with Sharks.
Please note that as state and county mandates allow, social activities may be offered. It is our strong desire to make this as best a season as we can for our Sharks community.
We are planning a Zoom meeting on Monday, March 15 at 7:00 pm to provide you an informational overview of our Sharks cabana season and answer any questions you may have.
