Sharks News & Notes - Week of April 24

Hello Sharks Families,
What a great first week back in the water for our Sharks swimmers! We are so very happy to see so many swimmers and parents on deck! Please refer to our 2023 Sharks Practice Schedule for your swimmer's practice times (our practice schedule is based on the age of your swimmer).
Practice Gear
Please refer to the requested practice gear at: 2023 Practice Equipment. The Coaches kindly ask that all swimmers have their requested practice equipment no later than the week of May 1. Need a gear bag to place your swimmers items in? Please contact Katie Ciciarelli or Valerie Waagen to purchase a customized Sharks gear bag for $20 (cash only).
Volunteers
As all returning Shadow Brook parents know (and new parents will find out), it takes a tremendous number of volunteers to make our swim team successful. For over 50 years, the Shadow Brook Sharks have thrived because of the generous volunteer parents we have. To ensure we have adequate coverage for every meet, each family is expected to volunteer for at least 5 shifts during the season and shift(s) at CHAMPS, which will be determined later in the season. It is through these activities that we get a chance to meet our fellow parents, encourage our swimmers and build a strong Sharks family. More information will be coming shortly with volunteer sign ups beginning Monday, May 1.
Fun Fridays!
Thank you to the Willey Family for the Sharksicles and to Ras & Sara Phouthavong for hosting our first Fun Friday of the season! Check out our Sharks Facebook page to see their fun contributions!
Fun Fridays are a great way for our swimmers to celebrate their week of workouts and fun in the water. Additionally, it is a wonderful opportunity for parents to mingle and get to know their fellow Sharks parents better. Using the link provided, please sign-up to host a future Fun Friday event at: 2023 Sharks Fun Fridays!. While school is still in session, hosting a Fun Friday includes providing popsicles/otter pops for the swimmers and adult beverages & a light snack for the parents (for example, chips/salsa & margaritas). Families are encouraged to team up to host. Please contact Katie Ciciarelli or Valerie Waagen for more information.
Buddies!
More information to come regarding signing up for Buddies this year. We will be holding a "Meet your Buddy" event prior to the movie starting on Movie night on Saturday, May 13 (movie will start around 8pm).
May 20 Adult-Only Sharks Parent Social
We thought it would be fun for our Sharks parents and coaches to welcome the 2023 season and mingle over drinks & tacos! It will be a great opportunity to get to know the new families and reunite with old friends.Please note this will be an outdoor event at the Shadow Brook pool and we will be holding a fun group fundraising activity with a special prize awarded to the winner. If you wish to increase your chances of winning more "tickets" may be purchased on the night - additional details will follow. Please RSVP promptly by May 11.

Cost: $20 per person (includes tacos/ water/ agua fresca/ group fundraiser "ticket")

Back by popular demand you will have the chance to win a prime parking spot at all FIVE Dual Meets! $20/ticket. A parking space will be reserved for your family close to the entrance of the host pool at the Dual Meets - mornings get extremely busy on the day of a meet and parking can be difficult to find.
Simply add your name in the google sheet attached beside the raffle ticket number or tickets you wish to purchase. Please make payment via Venmo @jayne-willey (again note spelling with 2 l's) and note your name or purchase tickets in person at photo day (May 18), Movie Night (May 13) and for a limited time at Time Trials (May 20) with cash or via Venmo.

Final Day for Suit Fittings! (April 24)
Today (April 24) is the FINAL day for team suit fittings. Parent Reps will be on deck from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm to assist.

SHOW YOUR SHARKS PRIDE by ordering apparel while earning $$ for our Sharks cabana swim team!
We have youth and adult sizes of t-shirts, hoodies, flannels, hats and much more at: 2023 Sharks Apparel (Passcode is SBS).
Samples are available at the pool from 3:30 - 5:15pm, M-Th (April 24-27). 10% of proceeds benefit the Sharks Swim Team if your order is placed by April 30.
